"Integrating COServer with BPM "

Overview

North East Port Authority uses business processes in P8 to assemble invoices for printing, emailing and faxing. Two main systems feed documents into P8's repository. SAP generates a summary invoice and Navis Express generates detailed accounts of shipments and storage. In BPM, the summary and detail documents are pulled from the P8 repository and sent to a target process.

Requirement

The Port Authority's main requirement was to be able to use their existing business rules or work queues to deliver assembled packets to various target printers.

Solutions

ASE used COServer in combination with ASE's DataPrep IServer to receive print requests from P8's BPM. The last process within the BPM work queue is to email the combined documents to ASE's DataPrep IServer. DataPrep receives the email and posts the documents to COServer for printing on departmental printers in the accounting building. Using the email subject as the job name and the recipient address as the queue, the job is spooled and sent to a target printer automatically from a work queue. In addition to printing the job, a cover page containing time/date stamp, job submitter, number of pages and target printer is added to the job for better sorting and handling. As an added benefit, COServer provides output management capabilities such as re-prints, load balancing and notifications.
